Welcome to my blog. I post on this, roughly once a week (it does vary). I sustained a 'Traumatic Acquired Brain Injury', and a six month coma from a 'road traffic accident' whilst cycling, in October 2006. I spent the following 4 years (22-26yrs old), in a combination of hospitals and rehabilitation homes. Now, I have been living independently in Surbiton, England since October 2010. This blog begun life in December 2010, as i realised that there are many people worldwide that i want to share experiences with. I know that, as a wheelchair user, I am obviously not as mobile as i wish, so, use the internet to connect to you. I enjoy letting my thoughts represent through type. I type honestly. As numerous readers, as well as email recipients, will understand, I find typing to be very therapeutic. Thank you :)

Everything is in the middle

Our desires drive us.  What do we want?

What do we like, but what do we really want?

Focus, you might need to step back and take a broader view.

Once we reach our goal we need to amend it. Personally, I remember laying in bed with my girlfriend (back in 2006), but I was so confused, everything in my life was complete. What next?

Next, fate played its cards. My life-changing accident was the following weekend.

Life-changing, but I had feared that something like this would happen. No, I didn’t fear it happening, as my love of cycling continued to grow. I had forever felt deep-down inside,  that cycling gave me everything, it was due to take something.

Everything is the mid-point between opposing aspects. This is the best way to always keep your mind open to endless possibilities.

You will not be surprised by my attitude.

I listen to 6Music. It is on hearing ‘The Staves’ explain the concept of ‘harmonies’, that I find further confidence to explain this theory. The musicians are explaining the concept that what everyone hears in music, are sounds which are so often harmonies between a number of notes.

Much like visual art is often interpreted through contrasts of colours, contrasts of sounds are also found as important. It is on consideration, we realise that everything can be viewed as existing in the middle somewhere.

Nothing is 100% black. Nothing is 100% white. They will only ever exist as concepts. Therefore everything exists somewhere in the middle. Everything when viewed objectively, has opposing aspects.

I understand true black to be a concept, a compilation of every colour, everything.

True white is the 100% opposite. It is NOTHING. Therefore everything is in the middle of the two extremes.

Somewhere in the middle.

I guess that I have believed in this concept for many many years, and provides support for my existentialist beliefs.

These, in turn have provided me with much mental strength needed throughout my life of initial rehabilitation, and has continued forever after.

I urge people to open up. Be free, and accept that this concept may help you. When facing a difficulty, do not remain trapped by it. Even if you do not know it yet, there is a positive side. Step back, relax, and you will recognise the positive.

Now, a banging tune, to psyche me into doing some exercise!...

(Only listen to loud, and if you're in the mood)!

I finish, showing my new passport wallet!

  1. Nice new perspective my friend. Where some people would relate black with darkness, it is conceptually the amalgamation of all the colours.
