Welcome to my blog. It varies how regular I write posts here. I sustained a 'Traumatic Acquired Brain Injury', and a six month coma from a 'road traffic accident' whilst cycling, in October 2006. I spent the following 4 years (22-26yrs old), in a combination of hospitals and rehabilitation homes. Now, I have been living independently in Surbiton, England since October 2010. This blog begun life in December 2010, as i realised that there are many people worldwide that i want to share experiences with. I know that, as a wheelchair user, I am obviously not as mobile as i wish, so, use the internet to connect to you. I enjoy letting my thoughts represent through type. I type honestly. As numerous readers, as well as email recipients, will understand, I find typing to be very therapeutic. Thank you :)

just one

The BBC has produced a list of the top ten artists, chosen for being at the forefront of new music...

Two artists that I highlight on the list are Kate Tempest, with her latest, second album. ‘The Book of Traps and Lessons’ was selected in 7th place.

Kate’s new album is highly-praised, reviewed on this blog in a post from October 11th ( http://patrickgoodacre.blogspot.com/2019/10/in-prison.html)

The list is topped by my favourite ‘new band’. I first discovered ‘Fontaines DC’ in August 2018. I immediately shared my discovery here, on this blog. They released their debut album, ‘Dogrel’, in late spring of this year. This preceded a subliminal live-set, performed at Glastonbury this summer.

Self harm

I attended a hospital appointment last Thursday morning. I was prepared for bad news (I could’ve quite easily been instructed to wear my leg/ankle cast, for longer than initially forecast). But no! Off it came. My lower-leg is still swollen from the break/surgery/cast combination, but now I know that things are progressing well. I attended the NeuroGym again on Monday, in which I successfully turned the pedals of the MotoMed gym bike. Only a couple of easy 5min sessions, in the gym, guided me to attempt a stronger, 10 minute session, at home, on Tuesday. As I was turning the pedals, I was wearing THE BIGGEST smile!

General Election result
After the joy of having my leg/ankle cast removed on the Thursday morning, I knew I still had a very important mission. I needed to go and vote in the General Election. I was wary that ‘things balance’. I had already had my good news from the hospital, so... It was only as I awoke, restless in the middle-of-the-night/Friday morning, that I was able to check on results so-far. Ohhh man!!
WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO OURSELVES?!!!
...Self harm.
Britain is letting these bumbling fools rule over us, with regressive/backward politics, for another 5 years!
We had a chance, but we threw it away, so carelessly!

Locally, I am more satisfied. I had met Sarah Olney at a hustings, a couple-of-weeks ago. I know that my friends in the Richmond Green Party had decided to stand aside, in support of the LibDem, Olney (who was a main rival of Conservative, Zac Goldsmith).
Thankfully, Olney won!
At home, the Kingston Green Party received our best vote yet. We had all worked hard, so feel that such a result (if not, better), was deserved. In relation to the previous 2017 results, only the LibDems bettered us (in terms of improvement). Still some distance behind, but an improvement as a progressive party, is encouraging! To be able to step-back and watch ‘the big two’ falter, is interesting.

Lizzie Deignan sports the new team kit.

Now, ‘my sport’ (well, sort of). One of my favourite teams is sponsored by a top bike brand and an Italian coffee company,  Trek-Segafredo.
The team have decided to lead progression in terms of the ‘sustainability of the team kit’...
A brave design, in terms the aesthetics. It will definitely stand-out!
A few weeks ago, my provision of a photo of my shelf containing a lot of empty Bialetti boxes, confused many.

Above, many (not all) of my Bialetti coffee machines line up on my work surface. I try and have a different type of coffee, each evening of the week!
(A lover, ‘obsessed’ maybe?)

Lack of internet!
OK, a serious problem, affecting many, many people across this local area, of SouthWest London...
Our lack of internet is alarming, recognising how reliant we all have become. I am typing this post without a connection. I really do not know when I will upload it for you!

The reason that I type today, is that it is the blog’s 9th birthday! Gulp!!
Well done, you have been an audience to various ramblings for almost a decade. I will continue it up to it’s tenth birthday, but then, I really don’t know.

Above is a link to last year’s post, through which I found the following data...

Direction

Ok, I have previously stated that I will refrain from interfering with your political decision in the upcoming election. I stand by this statement, but I feel it my responsibility as a UK citizen, to direct you away from such an abhorrent choice as the Conservative Party. They have failed us since 2010, but played the electoral game cleverly, retaining power. The thought of BJ as London Mayor was a laughable fear, but it happened. Now this!!! If they stay in power, J Reese-Mogg is waiting in place!

You all know that I am a very loyal member of the Green Party, and I continue to promote support of the Greens. I urge you to vote tactically, because this maybe the only way of keeping the Tories out! A suitable alliance between the Greens, Lib Dem’s, and Plaid Cymru will hopefully affect results. My fear is that Labour are proudly maintaining complete independence, but will they have enough? We need to end this Tory government.

very, VERY drunk!

A very strange post, this week. One week before the most vital General Election, ever. You all should know my view and who I support. I am not going to force-feed you electioneering propaganda. It is your decision, and I continue to respect that.
I feel that I must warn you that any singular government, lasts atleast 4 or 5 years, until the next General Election. Many of the ‘Global Capacities’, are internationally recognised as being on course for being reached by 2030! Are we to continue nose-diving down this suicidal sluice, or will we be given an escape-route?

So, last Thursday I underwent surgery for the third time this year! My broken ankle described here, a couple of weeks ago (we cannot allow this)...
... The bone was healing, but healing back into the wrong position!

A short wait, then surgery was had, followed by a few nights held in, to ‘recover’. I was given vital help, obviously, but I did require a lot of mental strength throughout these few days...
What have I done, to deserve this?’
Come on, ‘this’ is NOTHING compared to your previous stays.
...
Everyone has different problems.
The old man in the bed opposite  was asleep during the day (poor visitors could only be told of his act throughout the night times). He would awaken, and start at about 9.30pm, stopping at dawn. Every other patient in the room was kept awake all night. What did he do? Well, tell out the same short story again and again. Not in clear English, but broken. Muttering much. No-one could even attempt to understand anything. Occasionally, you would hear a clear statement.
Difficult. The gentleman was lying in his bed, speaking in great detail, very politely. But totally incompressible.
How to stay sane: Very difficult, so I started to smile to myself as I relived the following...
Of course I was very, very drunk!’
As i listened, I would expect to hear the above sentence!

Unsurprisingly my medical values and recordings, were proving to be difficult for hospital doctors to accept. For some reason they could not recognise that deep surgery had been followed by two sleepless nights. My call for coffee was serious... However...
They...
Banned me from visiting the cafe!
Hehehe... WHAT!!?! They were scared that I may have a bad reaction, and didn’t want me out of their sight!
Yet another ban from a coffee shop.

Thankfully,  I survived.

I was so happy to reach home, and use my Bialetti Moka https://www.bialetti.com/coffee/stovetop/moka-express-c-1_7_22.html). Everyone falls in love with their ‘Moka’. Embrace it. The wonderful semantics that this device offers, are unbeatable. Use again, and again, and again, and as you learn how to handle it, your coffee improves!

...
Finally!
As the popularity of coffee-capsules increase, so does the level of permanent waste which humans create, by using such. Finally users can be encouraged to interact more with the drink that they produce, and waste is almost nullified!
