Welcome to my blog. It varies how regular I write posts here. I sustained a 'Traumatic Acquired Brain Injury', and a six month coma from a 'road traffic accident' whilst cycling, in October 2006. I spent the following 4 years (22-26yrs old), in a combination of hospitals and rehabilitation homes. Now, I have been living independently in Surbiton, England since October 2010. This blog begun life in December 2010, as i realised that there are many people worldwide that i want to share experiences with. I know that, as a wheelchair user, I am obviously not as mobile as i wish, so, use the internet to connect to you. I enjoy letting my thoughts represent through type. I type honestly. As numerous readers, as well as email recipients, will understand, I find typing to be very therapeutic. Thank you :)

Forefront

WARPAINT

An innovative, yet rocking band, well worth investigating. Although their first album ‘Fool’ was over a decade ago, they have returned yet again, with a new sound, but still remaining an 'alternative rock' outfit. The LA-based, female four piece, are a quality, tight sound. Fourth album 'Radiate Like This', is out 6th May.

Talking of 'fool' (Warpaint first album title), do able-bodied pedestrians realise how lucky they are? The amount of foolish people who lack such basic awareness with road safety is forever depressing!

OK, I know that I am incredibly ‘lucky’ to be here at all. You may not realise, but we all are! Personal experience may be part of the reason why I am always ‘ultra-careful’ with road-safety, but the sheer level of selfishness shown by others is utterly mind-blowing. What people often fail to realise, is that this one BASIC characteristic can offer an insight to others, of their personality type (four-letter labels are often applied, and verified).

Professional-Racing is at the forefront of bicycle design. It does seem that different disciplines within ‘cycling’ develop, hand-in-hand. As top-end, downhill-mountain bikes were the first to introduce ‘hydraulic disc-brakes’ 25 years ago (or, so), we now see similar technologies used on road-racing bikes.

The quicker development, has seen the introduction of electric-battery-motors incorporated into road bicycles. As far as we know, these have not been integrated into road-races yet (although Lance Armstrong has proved that ‘anything goes’)!

My birth-town, Kingston now has a new intervention by ‘Sigma Sport’ (Sir Bradley Wiggins favourite bike shop, Hampton Wick).  Sigma Sport’s new branch is located in the corner of the market place, and well worth a visit! It seems that most top bicycle brands have ‘jumped on-board’, and have their new models of electric bikes. As I entered the shop, I felt an immediate attraction towards one corner in particular…

Bianchi bikes will always be part of me!

The plastic pedals are obviously just for display, but the plastic patch top of the hub-section, is the charge-point (where you plug it in)!

Paris-Roubaix this Sunday, and I have been amazed to find news of yet another advance, that is being tested throughout this cobbled classic!

Adjust tyre-pressure, mid-race, depending on the road surface!

I finish with an utterly superb performance, by Kae Tempest (feat Lianne Havas). Kae performed live for MaryAnne-Hobbs (radio6), earlier this week. Lyrically outstanding.

Special.

Oh, I almost forgot...

HAPPY EASTER!
