Welcome to my blog. It varies how regular I write posts here. I sustained a 'Traumatic Acquired Brain Injury', and a six month coma from a 'road traffic accident' whilst cycling, in October 2006. I spent the following 4 years (22-26yrs old), in a combination of hospitals and rehabilitation homes. Now, I have been living independently in Surbiton, England since October 2010. This blog begun life in December 2010, as i realised that there are many people worldwide that i want to share experiences with. I know that, as a wheelchair user, I am obviously not as mobile as i wish, so, use the internet to connect to you. I enjoy letting my thoughts represent through type. I type honestly. As numerous readers, as well as email recipients, will understand, I find typing to be very therapeutic. Thank you :)

Kristina Vogel is such a super person.

A former world champion, injured, paralysed and yes now a wheelchair user.

The interview below begins to explain what we (disabled) can still offer.

Yes, we are very, very different people, and we have had very different injuries, but the sheer determination that Vogel shows, whilst still smiling, is something that I sense myself aiming to mirror.

Cyclists are used to smiling whilst suffering. As a climber, I would regularly 'bluff' whilst cycling amongst companions!

No-one should know how much you are really suffering!

;)

 Thank you Kristina

Relaxing in ‘Claremont Gdns’. I stop to gather my thoughts. A group of school children are being safely led across the main road, into the Gardens.

‘Daddy look, that man is in a wheelchair’

Ok, after being spotted by a group of young schoolchildren, and hearing the above, my mind goes deeeeeeeeep...

No matter how much I get used to my new life, I am always reminded that I am different. I stop, I look around. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. Everyone is the same in that everyone is different. We are all unique. Be forever proud of how special you are. Everyone! We all bring such unique experiences to be shared and learnt from.

Yes, people may seem more productive of beneficiary information, than others. However everyone is the same. Everyone’s total potential is the same. You will naturally find how you can best use your potential.

Have no expectations. No-one can accurately predict the future. Therefore one’s ability to adapt to whatever situation one finds themselves in, is essentially more important than anything.

Expectations are nothing. Plans or designs, are nothing but ideas for the future. Forward thinking is just made up of thoughts or concepts in our brains. The only reality is now. Nothing can be designed or planned with 100% certainty. We can only predict with varying degrees of assurance. This is how we all live our lives, but for our own sakes, it is best to recognise the fact that, essentially, nothing in the future is certain. Open your mind. Be free.

We learn from the past. Experiences by ourselves, or other people, teach us how to best advance. The concept and existence of time, means that everything will advance. We must allow this process to continue, we cannot accept any different. We cannot attempt to comprehend anything different. We may not have a choice, but surely humanity must do what it can? We cannot let humanity collapse from its own greed.

Nobody knows what tomorrow brings. This may seem problematic, but essentially it is of vital importance. We are so incredibly lucky.

It seems that sometimes, we need to be reminded of this, essentially basic, fact.

We must respect Earth. We all need it (even Brexiters)!
