Welcome to my blog. It varies how regular I write posts here. I sustained a 'Traumatic Acquired Brain Injury', and a six month coma from a 'road traffic accident' whilst cycling, in October 2006. I spent the following 4 years (22-26yrs old), in a combination of hospitals and rehabilitation homes. Now, I have been living independently in Surbiton, England since October 2010. This blog begun life in December 2010, as i realised that there are many people worldwide that i want to share experiences with. I know that, as a wheelchair user, I am obviously not as mobile as i wish, so, use the internet to connect to you. I enjoy letting my thoughts represent through type. I type honestly. As numerous readers, as well as email recipients, will understand, I find typing to be very therapeutic. Thank you :)

SNAP THE STRAPS

David Millar is a hero of mine. I cannot speak highly enough of his books, and now this, his film documenting the latter stages of his career.

Such a decent, level headed bloke, in a world which I loved whilst it was extremely troubled and hurting. His wise words, I have held so close to me as I battled through my initial rehabilitation from my injury.

Thank you David.

I loved cycling. I knew that it was such a huge part of me, and I found it such a benefit in so many ways. So, I knew that one day it was likely to harm me in such a way that may equate everything that I had received or 'gained'.

I was not a professional cyclist, for many reasons. I was not able to dedicate such a huge part of my life.

A lifelong love affair with cycling has shown me many of the modern advances in design and technology, around the sport. I still have my beloved Bianchi (which was repaired). Fully repaired, I don’t know (so, just like myself).

Anyway, a Bianchi with rim-brakes, and Campagnolo components.

Recent years have shown developments such as electronic gear shifting, disc brakes, and as the sport globalises, many new brands on new frame designs.

I am stuck in the past, but with pride!

A note found on Instagram, that shocked me, but left me very satisfied…

The three Grand Tour winners of 2020:

Tadej Pojacar wins the Tour de France, riding a Colnago.

Tao Geoghegan Hart wins the Giro d'Italia, riding a Pinarello.

Primosz Roglic wins The Vuelta a Espana, riding a Bianchi

.

So I despaired as i saw another mask on the Kingston street by my bus stop. I stared at it...

Then I realised, it was just another bit of litter on the street.

But NO!  It pulled at my mind so hard. Like pulling on a guitar string, too hard. It resists, and stretches…

TWANG!

A guitar string breaks - SNAP!!

I was alarmed by the issue worrying me most, the straps on the mask. I know fully well, that such traps are life threatening to all animals who may come across this litter.

Please, SNAP THE STRAPS!

Finally, I want to point you towards the ‘archives’ page of this blog.

http://patrickgoodacre.blogspot.com/p/annual-archive.html

I recently added a section archiving blog posts from 2019.

The first eight years of this blog had already been done (but will be updated to the newer style, soon). First decade is complete in the coming December, so there is yet to be an archive for this year, as it’s not finished yet!

This ‘newer style’ is hopefully easier to use! There is a picture from each month, and a brief description of each month’s content!

I have progressively slowed this blog down, since it peaked in 2017. It will live on, but post frequency will continue to decrease.
