Welcome to my blog. It varies how regular I write posts here. I sustained a 'Traumatic Acquired Brain Injury', and a six month coma from a 'road traffic accident' whilst cycling, in October 2006. I spent the following 4 years (22-26yrs old), in a combination of hospitals and rehabilitation homes. Now, I have been living independently in Surbiton, England since October 2010. This blog begun life in December 2010, as i realised that there are many people worldwide that i want to share experiences with. I know that, as a wheelchair user, I am obviously not as mobile as i wish, so, use the internet to connect to you. I enjoy letting my thoughts represent through type. I type honestly. As numerous readers, as well as email recipients, will understand, I find typing to be very therapeutic. Thank you :)

a screw loose!

Sorry about my rather ‘haphazard’ previous post. It was my birthday, and I was sulking about an issue that deserves nothing. Especially not presence on this blog!

Then I was externally advised to cut it, and I did so.

solution...

Voluntary work, so perhaps not as ‘important’ as your regular employment, however I feel that my control of KingstonGreenParty’s Facebook and Instagram pages, is vital.

I attempt to maintain your local awareness of vast, global issues, knowing that we can all make little ‘small steps’, and changes locally, which will begin to affect our planet.

I provide a link to a super show provided by ‘npr-tiny desk concerts’.

As we all are facing ‘attendance restrictions’, Norah Jones performs live from her bedroom!...

A ‘screw loose

So, I arranged another hospital appointment for the other week. I had discovered a lump on the back of my heel. It only causes pain if pressure is applied for a period of time.

Above, one of the three photos that I emailed to the hospital, prior to the appointment. I was concerned by the lump at the rear of the heel.

I wanted it checked, as I know I had a metal ‘nail’ inserted through the bottom of the heel, standing up, past the ankle, into the left leg’s lower-calf area. To me, this lump was initially, alarming to see.

Immediately after looking at the X-ray, it was confirmed.

The surgeon told me straight away...

You’ve got a screw loose

It is not the ‘nail’ itself, just a ‘screw’ which initially was fixed to hold the nail-pin in place (but it is not so important now).

A bit of mental support throughout these tough times...

Well, it seems like the entire globe is suffering a vast range of effects from Coronavirus, still. No-one can see an end, but we can all notice a calmer level of acceptance. We have lived through the extreme levels of hyper-panic throughout the entire globe. This panic, and fear was what could be cited as the most-crippling. Hundreds of thousands of lives were lost during this global-pandemic. It is not over.

We have learnt. We have learnt an endless list of things.

Primarily, we have learnt how we can live on less.

Less is more.

People are now aware that we need less. Some of us can recognise that our extreme desire for more and more and more, is essentially, GREEDY. There is nothing worse than to be considered greedy.

As we return to ‘normality’, our ‘greedy desires’ return. How much self-restraint do people have?

Less is more.

Eddy Merckx

Widely considered as the greatest racing cyclist, of all time, I have any Eddy Merckx poster with quote, hanging in my living room.

Thank you https://switchbackcollective.com

It could be understood as a fairly existentialist attitude. To enjoy the extreme positives of a winning cyclist and success it brings, the rider must experience the extreme negatives of suffering. Experiences come in pairs.
