I stockpiled WHAT?!!!…
I knew that I always stocked a good supply of pasta and coffee, which are ‘essential’ for me. I have crockery. Fresh food will have to be found at my local Sainsbury’s.
I knew that there is a ‘Patrick’s essential’ which I know exactly where I can source in normal times. However, these trips involve train journeys, and like most, it is currently shut. I sourced my Bialetti filters through eBay. Obsessed, I have three Bialetti ‘Mokas’. Each uses different sized filters. Unsurprisingly, filters are essential. I drink a lot of coffee. I drink espresso. I will need filters. eBay was the solution.
Patrick now calm
It is 2020, the world has fortunately allowed us to progress evolution, we can now interact not just sonically, but visually as well, across the internet. As a close family, the four of us can connect from three different venues, and catch-up though Skype. I find this so important. Visual communication is such an obvious advancement.
I am not sure as for the program used, by these two legends, but I follow Sir Bradley Wiggins on Instagram. To my delight, I saw…
Sir Bradley and Mark Cavendish found interviewing each other, viewed through Instagram. I remember how i used to get so excited when I found an interview with one of my cyclist-heroes, published in a magazine. This would only ever occur, whilst on holiday in France (i wouldn’t translate accurately, but i didn’t mind, I just wanted the poster-size photo of Claudio Chiappucci)!
Now, 25 years later, successful British cyclists, are found talking to each other in a video streamed on the internet!… Whattt!!???
OK, i guess times have changed!
This is why there must be hope.
Oh, thank you Bradley and Mark!
Giulio Ciccone took us with him for a mountainous training ride, in his back garden!...
I have recently installed the ‘Zoom’ app/program. I did so, because I ‘attend’ various meetings/talks with my fellow Green Party members. Co-leader of the party, Sian Berry, hosts a regular talk with members, discussing various topics.
Then, last week, I ‘attended’ our ‘Kingston-Green-Party Monthly Meeting’, held by using the same ‘Zoom’ app.
This concept of holding group meetings ‘virtually’ could indirectly be my answer to a lot. Wheelchair-based, I often seem unsure about my ability of attending venues, and accessibility issues can seem endless. Now, I have no excuse! No-one does.
An Italian solution to finishing the football season…
5-a-side!…
Clap for carers
Every Thursday at 8pm. Do it.
This is not an instruction, it is a chance. It is a small chance for everyone to act as one, showing how grateful we all are to those who care for our health.
At this time of sheer-madness, we should all realise how lucky we are to have our National Health Service.
British people must feel lucky, because every other country use health systems to generate financial wealth! The NHS is unique. In time of crisis we need them, we are lucky, we have them.
‘abres los ojos’
You go down the ever-busy high street now… No-one.
I am regularly reminded of the above film clip.
Alone.
I live with no-one
I have no children
I have no partner
This is normality for me!
... but...
These facts have hit me hard, as i realise that I need to have some kind of hope (even if it’s very unlikely).
How can i hope now, no individuals exist?! Everyone lives at home, in luuuurv with their partner. Outside, some exchange smiles of acknowledgment, but even that is minimal, as people are disappearing back home, amongst their loved ones.
No-one knows.
I have lost. Unfortunately, as close friends and family know, I cannot bear losing! Usually I find a way of twisting it into a victory, but ‘90 minutes is up, I am ‘midway through extra-time, I am needing an equaliser’! Even a penalty-shootout please?... Just, a chance?
Sorry about the note above. Please do not fear that it is gloom gloom, gloom. I was sat by the river yesterday, when i wrote the note. I include it, because i mustn’t lie.
Social-Distancing is always possible. Most (about 98%) people adhere to the rules. But about 2%!!
This 2 percent, really do stick-out. Most people are socially aware of the problem facing the entire world. Unfortunately, this ‘2 percent’ must disappear, otherwise a solution can never be found.
(2 percent is a total guess at the proportion of ‘insociable’ people).
I am sorry, if you are part of this group… words cannot express my disgust!
