A strange concoction of notes to compile into this post. Ah well, you must be used to reading my blog’s ‘mish-mash of words’!
Two words (which should be the two most commonly used by everyone)…
THANK YOU!
I shout a ‘thank you’, when I cross the road. Only as I reach the opposing curb-side of the road, do I question myself. This exclamation of gratitude is not necessary, but I realise that I cannot raise a hand up to offer a sign of appreciation (whilst moving). A loud, clear voice from a wheelchair user, alerts people. ‘The wheelchair’ is in fact a normal human being!
Bialetti 'Mokas' must not be washed using soap.
Whilst ‘Coffee-Capsules’ may now be partially advertised as recyclable, or ‘good-for-the-environment’, the whole concept of over-packaged coffee, destroys me.
The coffee bean itself should be the only material that we are consuming, using fully. No?
The world is addicted to coffee. It is not addicted to rubbish. Coffee-Capsules are instantaneous rubbish, for single-use only.
Bialetti coffee machines are long lasting, with seemingly infinite potential. Users must not wash with soap, but can use water alone to cleanse the metallic panels. Another positive, eco-friendly element that is often forgotten.
I rely on people being able to view my facial expression
I am alarmed by my inability to express thoughts, whilst wearing a face mask.
All should wear them if possible, on public transport. People are just seen as human bodies under their eyes. For the past 14 years ( since my accident), I have relied on the ability to smile. Subconsciously, I am sensing other humans’ fear of ‘the one in the wheelchair’. I don’t want that, so usually I would offer a friendly smile in response to their often quizzical faces! Now, nothing.
The next section is actually a direct copy of a piece written for my ’Small Steps’ blog (Small Steps)
Deodorant
So many bathroom products are plastic!
We must do what we can, to eliminate them.
I know that it may seem such a large task, it could be seen as never-ending. I recognised that my task could always be tackled. One more plastic product, that is used daily, must have a suitable replacement?...
My plastic, anti-perspirant/deodorant has been sitting on my basin, defiantly laughing at me... ‘Irreplaceable’?
I search supermarkets and unsurprisingly, I find no adventures made. Big names supply and protect big names.
We should all recognise that no risks are taken by those at the top.
’No economic risks’.
Big names. Plastic bottles.
:(
My search continued, and I finally succeeded, earlier this week!
‘FoodForThought’! (http://www.foodforthoughtuk.com)
A solution is to lose the need for a waterproof container. Why not use a safe, natural chemical, as a solid soap bar?
There is no need for a liquid chemical (which would need safely containing - in a plastic bottle).
Aiding application, there is to be moisture of some kind, either your washed skin or the soap bar can be lightly dampened with water!
I strongly approve of this solution. The problem is recognised, and tackled right back at an early stage (avoiding the concept of liquid deodorant, and the need to store a liquid).
Sustainable Cycling Organisation
Although the act of cycling is the most eco-efficient means of transport, the professional sport is not. The kits, supplies carried by all the support staff who follow the team in cars across the globe, add to the negative affect of the sport.
Whilst no-one can save the entire world alone, Team Movistar should be held up as a positive example to other cycling teams, and organisations around the world.
Congratulations Movistar.

Britain’s greatest ever Tour De France rider
Chris Froome has been forced out of Team Ineos, choosing to ride next year for the ‘Israel Cycling Academy’… Interesting!
…
Ineos, owned by Jim Ratcliffe, is still considered a British team although
‘In April 2010, Ratcliffe moved Ineos's head office from Hampshire to Rolle, Switzerland, decreasing the amount of tax the company paid by £100m a year.’
A national leader of the fracking industry who lives in Monaco, running a team in a tax-haven… I cut my thoughts short.
An English team, to be proud of…?
Chris Froome has made a brilliant choice!
