Welcome to my blog. It varies how regular I write posts here. I sustained a 'Traumatic Acquired Brain Injury', and a six month coma from a 'road traffic accident' whilst cycling, in October 2006. I spent the following 4 years (22-26yrs old), in a combination of hospitals and rehabilitation homes. Now, I have been living independently in Surbiton, England since October 2010. This blog begun life in December 2010, as i realised that there are many people worldwide that i want to share experiences with. I know that, as a wheelchair user, I am obviously not as mobile as i wish, so, use the internet to connect to you. I enjoy letting my thoughts represent through type. I type honestly. As numerous readers, as well as email recipients, will understand, I find typing to be very therapeutic. Thank you :)
Please note that this website cannot be viewed 100% successfully everywhere. It is designed for optimum viewing on a screen of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I'm baaaaaaaack!

...Well, still not FULLY recovered, but I continue on the correct path!
I have had several notes that were made well over a month ago. They were scheduled for inclusion on May 03rd! I never made this post properly (it was the very first written from my hospital bed). I was too fixed with joy following my first surgery (i thought my only surgery)!
One of my favourite artists, Marissa Nadler has released a duet album with heavy rock guitarist Stephen Brodsky. ‘Droneflower’ is the name the new album that is discussed, in this interview.

Even in a hospital!
Life in a wheelchair makes you forget, when you need the loo. Your gender becomes negligible. Everyone fits in either Male, Female or Wheelchair.

Hospital patient trolley experience.
This experience need only occur once, and will long live in my mind forever. You are quite clearly a patient. A human being transported through hospital by a doctor or therapist receiving help, aid of some kind. You have right-of-way everywhere. You are in the worst position, you need help. You can give no-one ANYTHING. Onlookers probably look down on you, and feel sorry for you. It really is quite striking how harsh the experience can feel, if you read such into it. Fortunately, I’m far too experienced!

I studied many forms of Futurism, whilst I was a design student. Both the First World War, and Russian Revolution were key influences for many examples throughout Europe. Visited back in 2006, The Estorick Gallery (London) proved an utterly brilliant resource for a student studying such. The artistic movement was popular in Italy, promoting a new industrial life, the power of the machine, and a new, fast life. Talents of artists such as Fortunato Depero were welcomed, as graphic art was becoming more and more prominent. Art depicting essences such as speed, power, wealth, technology, amongst many more was common practice for Futurist designers.

Black Midi
My new favourite band, of the moment.
Described by Google, as experimental-rock. Personally, I would take this even further, considering it as a ‘Jazz-Rock’.

'Black Midi are an experimental rock band from London, England. The band consists of Geordie Greep, Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin, Cameron Picton and Morgan Simpson. Their name is derived from the Japanese music genre Black MIDI.'

I heard initially on 6music. Such mature, creative attitudes, shown by this London-band, stood out from such a young group of energetic artists.

raindown

I was not going to do a post this week, but then…

Sooo... I can shout out loud and clear that ‘bandcamp’ is the best way of purchasing your MP3s now! I had previously kept this understated, because although i believed it, I am fully aware that increased popularity, can have detrimental affects too.

 Radiohead in 1997.

I lay in bed as I listen to the above (Thom’s minidisc), I am given such and incredible amount of joy as I listen to the very early demo recording of an alternate version of Paranoid Android. :)
At just over 18 minutes into the fourth MiniDisc, the band choose between three variances of ‘raindown on me’ verses, to use in ‘Paranoid Android’. Incredible!

The full MP3 download is only available through bandcamp. 1.8GB

Hours of jamming and live performances are available, and the asking price is £18, or more. The proceeds will go to Extinction Rebellion.

Only available for the next couple of weeks. (released on 11/06/19)

I strongly urge you all to open your ears and listen to Sian & Jonathan
Mainly due to lies that this country was told three years ago, we were all hurt by our nation’s politics. Liars win referendums and manage to live-on, potentially becoming PrimeMinister, but the Greens have always been 100% truthful. Honesty means so much in a political environment, where there is so little.
Yes to Europe. No to climate change.

Whilst it can terrify, thinking of a triumphant Donald Trump, we in Britain take it to a new level, we can be expecting Boris Johnson! ‘Leaders of the free world’!…   (…errrrrrr)!
Whenever horrid problems are found, we must remember that somewhere, someway, somehow, there is potentially balancing positive news…
… For days, weeks, months, and even over recent years, nations have claimed that they will potentially aim to reach environmental, ecological measures, by a forthcoming date.
To be honest, governments are coming under pressure from their citizens at home, and other countries, internationally. Many targets that are stated, may seem a bit wishy/washy, too distant, and weak. This British government has stated an aim set at 31 years into the future (Boris will gave hopefully gone by then)! This morning i found this…

…The beginning. OK, dates are not clearly stated, but this claim is momentous...
If they can achieve such, then i hope countries will be pressurised, to compete.
Thank you Norway 🇳🇴

If I was 17 again (half of my age)...
… Fontaines DC would be one of my bands! Although I discovered them last year (http://patrickgoodacre.blogspot.com/2018/08/feline-supremacy-refillable-cleaners.html), their debut album, 'Dogrel', was released earlier this year.

Rock music, with attitude.

Why?

Last Sunday, the world of road-cycling saw a momentous victory. Relatively unknown at the start in Bologna, Ecuadorian, Richard Carapaz was prestigiously, and deservedly sporting the Maglia Rosa in  the Verona finale. Holding Vincenzo Nibali into second place, a major sporting success for an Ecuadorian, is rare and hard fought.

Champion Carapaz is centre stage, in Verona's Roman theatre!

Carapaz was the first non-British rider victorious in a Grand Tour (Tours of Italy, France, Spain) since Tom Dumoulin’s Giro D’Italia victory of 2017 (5 races of British victors)!
I am British, but I am also a fan of the professional sport, I welcome an end to this domination!

George Monbiot, as many of you know already, is a hero of mine. He is not afraid to voice his well thought-out opinions, on many of the biggest issues which we all face. No-one else talks about them, suggesting that they are either too scared of failure, or too self-centred to care enough. I know that many of you don’t like him. He speaks the truth, and unfortunately for some, the truth hurts.
Capitalism is broken

Bring your own containers, says Waitrose - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48498346

News broke, earlier in the week, that one of Britain’s largest submarket chains, Waitrose, are taking problems seriously. By seriously reducing packaging, the store have helped to start the ball rolling. I mean that by introducing this basic concept regarding ‘our need of packaging’, others will copy, and slowly customer awareness of packaging will reign supremely.
What is every customer actually buying?
Is it all NEEDED?
What are we gaining, and therefore taking, from somewhere else?
WE CANNOT TAKE/GET FOREVER

The main issue surrounding serious over-use of packaging in supermarkets, had affected me for  long while previously…
I thought about it. Yes, plastics do keep things fresh (vital in a food supermarket).
OK, but what is sold in plastic, but doesn’t need to be kept so fresh?…
Meat? No.
Milk? No (but different problem altogether)
Fruit/Veg? Sold in plastic, but freshness is an issue.
Everything …
-- Breakfast Cereal?!!! Cardboard boxes, but, why plastic bags as well?
— Toilet/Kitchen paper?!!! Why? Is this needed to keep fresh?!!

OK, two things. I wanted to confront any supermarket!
WHY?

I had told my local Sainsburys…
I could see that breakfast cereal packaging needed to be revolutionised...
So I sent the above, to Sainsburys HQ, April 02nd

Accept this, or not, WE NEED TREES.
As Britain, it is our global duty to provide a large proportion of tree-cover. We are a rich island, in a temperate climate. Our climate is almost designed towards tree growth. We are not suited towards desserts, ice caps, barrier reefs, or even exotic rainforests of the equator. We are supposed to have extensive quantities of green trees.

We are an island, surrounded by water, therefore we will always receive rainfall. Sun plus rain equals tree growth. Britain must learn to accept our global location, and start loving what we can produce.

Last note, of this week’s post, explaining how Fiorentina fans can happily welcome the team forward into a new era! :)
