I open this post with a music offering. I only have one of the previous albums, ‘Emily Alone’, so I am not too experienced. However the calm, mellow, acoustic sound offered by Florist softens the pressure that the weather locks us in, usually around this time of year.

I want to provide new readers with a brief bit of my personal background (regular readers will be bored, and can skip these paragraphs).

I am 37! Errr GULP! I had always been attracted to studying design, but my history of deep thinking was first identified by myself, as I chose to study Philosophy AS level! 2005, I graduated in Industrial Design at Loughborough University, then achieved my Graduate Certificate in Design for Visual Communication in 2006 (at the LCC). I was employed part-time in sustainability, studied my course, was a keen road-cyclist, and kept close to my girlfriend (a student in Birmingham).

I turned 22 in August, shortly after I had reached a personal psychological high, having cycled up various mountains including the Alpe D’Huez to watch the Tour De France. My girlfriend and I were very close hearts, but we both knew that our ‘student-life’ was reaching an end. Goals were reached, targets attained, and qualifications got. What next?

… I woke up in April 2007, in the Royal Hospital of Neuro-Disability. My beloved Richmond Park was the site of my accident. Saturday October 14th 2006, I had started a ‘warm-down lap’ with my cycling club, as we overtook a group of roller-skaters on the road. I had swerved and fallen off. Unfortunately an approaching car could not avoid me.

Years of hospital and rehabilitation life, followed. I have been living independently in Surbiton since 2010. I begun this blog in 2010.

Despite further hospitalisation in 2019 (multiple surgeries), much focus on support of the Green Party, my love of music, football, and cycling, can be reflected on by looking back at the archives of the first decade.

A band who broke many, many records with their singles ‘Bang’ and ‘Maps’, many a year ago, have shown quality at many times, but it was hearing news of their forthcoming album, and hearing a forthcoming hit single, I wanted to share here!

Legend Thom Yorke performs acoustic stunning set

A trip up to Central London, on Thursday was superb. Not only was the sun shining, but everywhere looked beautiful because people were  about, and smiling. As I left my destination, I knew how lucky we all are that the horrors of the pandemic seem to be behind us.

In reflection, I can tell that a vast portion of my joy, was my change of route, half-way! My life in a ‘Brain-Injury Rehabilitation’ home, re-taught me so many essential skills, many of which I use in current daily-life. One lesson seeded into our heads was on the necessity of planning trips. Everything needed planning. Most things do need planning, by most people. I willingly realise and accept this. Perhaps my experience of ‘Design’ helps me understand.

However, the level of joy I got from ‘changing my mind’ in the middle of London - wow! Basically I decided to turn right, instead of left when leaving the coffee shop! Waterloo was always going to be my destination, but I chose see St Paul’s Cathedral, the Millennium Bridge, and the Tate Modern, in the sunshine! En-route, I realised how many people there were back about-town. Covid lockdowns are a thing of the past! Yahooooo!

The 2022 Tour de France starts July 1st, in Copenhagen!
